Jaye, Finance Professional
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to become an actress. I pursued it and secured a few roles, but, in the end, the demanding work and the time it required didn't seem justified by the outcomes.
What do you want most in the future?
It's a dream of mine to own a large house with enough land and room for my family and extended family to live together happily.
What’s been your biggest achievement to date?
On paper, owning two homes in London stands out, but, personally, I consider my two children as my greatest achievement. They are my heartbeat, and despite the challenges of motherhood, I feel a lot of pride knowing I am their mother.
What’s your advice to other women/girls?
Maintain your self-confidence and pursue your desires. You may not succeed in everything you attempt, but failure is not the end. Keep pushing forward; no one has two heads. You can do it!
What does it mean being a black woman in your industry?
I work in finance, and while there's greater diversity now, when I began over 10 years ago, it was less diverse. I often felt the need to be the best representation and prove myself beyond any doubt to dispel preconceived assumptions.
What school did you go to?
I attended Hackney Free School; it has since closed and been replaced, now known as The Urswick School.
What is the most important thing in the world to you?
My children and family. From a young age, I've had a checklist of goals, but spending time with my family and having my children fills my heart like nothing else. It's what I cherish most.
