What’s your advice to other women/girls?
Your authenticity is your superpower. Be yourself! Fight to ensure that you retain your freedom of expression. Make sure you can look in the mirror at the end of every day and know you didn’t compromise yourself. You are beautiful!
What does it mean being a black woman in your industry?
The landscape of my industry has undergone some transformations. Recently, I've embarked on a journey into the music industry. Navigating this space as a black woman presents unique challenges, as one may not always align with the prevailing aesthetic ideals. Often, black women are perceived as a monolith, fostering a sense that there is limited room for diversity and individuality. Furthermore, it can feel like our talents are not celebrated to the same extent as those of lighter-skinned individuals with comparable skills.
Despite these challenges, black women have consistently broken through barriers. Currently, there is a noticeable shift, with the industry carving out a larger space for us. A surge of black female artists is emerging, each bringing exceptional talent and remarkable music to the forefront. Indeed, with the right mindset, anything is achievable.
