Phyllis, Chartered Surveyor
What did you want to be when you grew up?
An athlete and a forensic scientist. I got my wish with the former (albeit when I was a child, I thought it would last forever!).
What do you want most in the future?
To be content with my life.
What’s been your biggest achievement to date?
Competing in the 2010 commonwealth games.
What’s your advice to other women/girls?
Self-belief is so important. Also, arm yourself with knowledge.
What does it mean being a black woman in your industry?
You are in the minority of a minority. But let that be your strength. Don’t be afraid to stand out. And hold out your arm to pull others up behind you.
What school did you go to?
The Grey Coat Hospital, Westminster.
What is the most important thing in the world to you?
My family - unconditional love is severely underrated and something that is often taken for granted.
