Kaysha, Personal Trainer and Model

  1. What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to do so many different things when I was growing up: at 13 I wanted to be Neonatologist, at 15 I wanted to be a model and dancer and by 18 I wanted to work in international development so I could change lives!

  2. What do you want most in the future?

In the future, I want to continue being happy!

This to me looks like a family: a partner and some kids and a successful business!

I want to create a space and a community for women to train together and network.

  3. What’s been your biggest achievement to date?

Deciding to follow my passion for fitness and giving up a career I had been building for 10 years in a completely different sector!

Since the end of the pandemic, I have coached hundreds of women in person and online and that has been the most rewarding thing. I love that I get to do what I enjoy and hopefully inspire some women on the way.

  4. What’s your advice to other women/girls?

Trust the timing of your life and follow your passions! Keep doing the things you enjoy and you can create your own opportunities. There is space for everyone's uniqueness really focus on being yourself!

  5. What does it mean being a black woman in your industry?

Fitness is a very male-dominated environment first and foremost there aren't very many women personal trainers in general and certainly not many black women.

Black women are amongst the higher risk group for major health diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. I want to change the narrative and be a positive example that this can change!

Representation matters! I know so many black girls enjoy fitness/sport but after a certain age (for me that was 15) It becomes unpopular and the media/ peers can push girls in other directions. I want to remind black girls that they don't have to choose between health and fitness and other areas they enjoy such as fashion, beauty, etc. You can do both!

  6. What school did you go to?

    Clapton Girls Academy.

  7. What is the most important thing in the world to you?

Encouraging women to lift weights! It's the best thing for your health and longevity! The confidence it brings is second to none and want every women to experience that.
